I’ve always been curious about people and their choices, particularly when it comes to careers.  As a kid, I’d ask grownups what they did and why.  The thought that anyone would work just for a paycheck baffled me.  Why spend so much time and energy doing work you’re not passionate about?

In my 20s I experienced that lack of purpose first-hand.  I was driven to succeed and advanced quickly but my growing unhappiness was taking its toll.  In a moment of unfiltered desperation, I quit my job and went searching for a path that would bring success and happiness.

That’s the mission that brings me here today.  I emerged from that hibernation with answers and a plan.  People noticed my newfound clarity and asked me for help discovering their purpose, and determining a path to get there.

Within a few years I was doing this work professionally, first at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business and then at UNC Kenan-Flagler.  I learned how to bring out the best in people so they could make a bigger impact.  By the time I was recruited as a senior executive to oversee a 400-member team, I knew how to build a culture where people were happy and performed to their potential.

Prompted by my success I founded Stevens Leadership on the principle that you don't have to sacrifice happiness for success.  Now I help leaders develop personally and professionally into the truest version of themselves, so they can lead from a place of passion.
